The Tempering of Azovstal
Azovstal, a cornerstone of Mariupol’s identity and Ukraine’s industrial power, has long stood as a symbol of strength and resilience, both in its economic contribution and its historic role as a bastion of defence. This transformation retains its essential function as a hub for heavy industry, reimagined through advanced green steel technology. It is an architectural expression of something that would otherwise have remained invisible: a public plaza where the intersection of urban life and industrial activity is brought to life. By blending production and community, the design grounds Mariupol’s social fabric in its industrial heritage, creating a vibrant space where people and industry coexist, fostering dialogue and shared experience.
