Table of Curiosities: from Artifacts to living Narrative
The project creates a form of representation of the Trypillia–Cucuteni culture, a prehistoric civilization that flourished 6,000 years ago in present-day Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania. The “table of curiosities” reimagines the colonial “cabinet of curiosities,” where objects were removed from context and displayed behind glass. Central to the display is an interactive, mechanical, and augmented reality-based installation that invites visitors to gather around a table and explore scans and 3D models of artifacts along with the historical and scientific information they carry. Rather than presenting original objects removed from their archaeological contexts, the exhibition prioritizes digital repatriation and ethical engagement with cultural heritage. Instead, the exhibit travels, bringing history to new audiences with a focus on accessibility, interpretation, and dialogue.
